Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information we receive when you visit our website, contact us, donate in support of our work, or encounter the automated services we operate — and what rights you have over that information.

Safe AI for Humanity Foundation is committed to treating visitor and donor information responsibly and transparently. We collect as little personal information as we can while still operating as a nonprofit research organization.

Who We Are

Safe AI for Humanity Foundation is a Wyoming non-profit corporation and IRS-approved 501(c)(3) organization, EIN 41-4767005, with a registered office at 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801-6317, United States. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, we are the data controller for the information described in this policy.

Information We Receive

We may receive basic technical information when you visit this site, such as browser type, device type, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP address, and standard server logs generated by our hosting and security providers. We also receive information you choose to send us directly, such as your name, email address, and the contents of any message you send to [email protected]. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Donations

Online donations on this site are processed through Givebutter. When you donate, the payment and donation information you provide is collected and handled by Givebutter and its payment partners under their own privacy and security practices. We never see or store full payment card numbers. We may receive donor details needed to acknowledge donations, maintain our records, and comply with nonprofit obligations.

Automated Services and Accounts

We operate automated services and accounts on third-party platforms that publish our research updates and related content on a scheduled or event-driven basis. These services publish outward only. They do not collect, store, profile, or process personal information about the people who see or interact with the content they post, and we do not build audience datasets from them. Any interaction you have on such a platform — following an account, replying to a post, or viewing content — is handled by that platform under its own privacy policy, and the data it collects from that interaction is not shared with us beyond the aggregate statistics the platform shows to any account holder.

How We Use Information

We use information we receive to respond to inquiries, operate and secure the website, process and acknowledge donations, comply with legal and tax obligations, and communicate about our mission when appropriate.

Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: legitimate interests, for operating and securing our website, understanding aggregate traffic, and responding to correspondence; performance of a contract or steps taken at your request, for processing a donation you initiate; legal obligation, for tax, accounting, and recordkeeping requirements; and consent, where you have opted in to receive communications from us. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out.

What We Do Not Do

We do not sell personal information, and we have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the preceding twelve months. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and our services are not directed at them. We do not publish private donor or contact information except as required by law or with your permission.

Sharing

We may share information with service providers that help us run the website, process donations, secure our systems, or meet legal obligations. These currently include our hosting and content-delivery provider, our donation processor, and our email provider, each acting on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, subpoena, or similar legal process.

International Transfers

We are based in the United States, and information we receive is processed there. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, transfers of your information to us or to our service providers are made under appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or on the basis of your explicit consent or the necessity of the transfer to perform a request you initiated.

Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the website, maintain business and donor records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Donation records are retained for the period required by United States nonprofit and tax law. Server logs are retained for a short operational period and then discarded or aggregated. Correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle the matter and keep an organizational record of it.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you; to have inaccurate data corrected; to have your data erased; to restrict or object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interests; to receive your data in a portable format; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on it. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Your Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose about you; to request deletion of that information; to request correction of inaccurate information; and to not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no need for a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" opt-out, but you may still submit any of the requests above. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted without a right to limit. To make a request, email us at the address below; we will verify the request using the email address associated with your correspondence or donation.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections, access controls, and reliance on established providers for payment handling. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Links to Other Sites

This website links to and relies on third-party services including GitHub, Givebutter, Cloudflare, and social platforms. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.

Your Questions

If you have a privacy question, want to exercise a right described above, or want to contact us about this policy, email [email protected], or write to us at Safe AI for Humanity Foundation, 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801-6317, United States.

Policy Updates

We may update this policy from time to time as our website and operations evolve. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page.
